Northern Suburbs of Brisbane

From the CBD to Moreton Bay Region and beyond - LJBA is your property specialist on Brisbane's northside!

Why Northside?

There’s a friendly rivalry in Brisbane between those who live on the northside or the southside of the Brisbane River.

It’s very common for people to choose a side and then live and play there for the rest of their lives!

As our office is in Stafford (and was previously located in Virginia), we completely understand the appeal of the northern suburbs of Brisbane.

For a start, it’s well connected to the rest of Brisbane with easy access to the tunnels, Brisbane Airport, and the Gateway Motorway – which means both the Gold and Sunshine Coasts are within easy reach.

Inner North

The inner north is known for its hilly topography – complete with lovely breezes, views, and leafy outlooks.

Highly sought-after suburbs like Paddington, Newmarket, Grange, Windsor, Alderley, Wilston, and Ascot, feature predominantly single house blocks – including beautifully renovated Queenslanders – as well as plenty of units.

The CBD, just 4-5km away, is easily accessible via bus, train, car, or foot, making the inner northern suburbs of Brisbane oh-so-convenient for commuters.

Inner City

For investors, young professionals, and families who enjoy an active social scene – the inner-city suburbs of Newstead, Teneriffe, and New Farm are appealing options.

Choose from a diverse range of properties, from stunning historic woolstores to sophisticated modern apartments, with some of the city’s best restaurants, bars, and cafes on your doorstep.

Sprawling playgrounds including New Farm Park, amenities like Gasworks Plaza, and easy access to Brisbane’s CityCat ferry service via the New Farm Park Ferry Terminal contribute to this being an area in high demand.

Add to that consistent capital growth, and you can see why property here is usually a strong investment opportunity.

Northern Suburbs

No description of the northern suburbs of Brisbane is complete without a mention of the major hubs of Aspley and Chermside which are well served by public transport, hospitals, and shopping centres – including Westfield Chermside, the second largest in Australia.

Investors will find Chermside and Aspley particularly attractive due to their high rental demand and steady property value growth.

Hendra and Nundah offer a blend of suburban tranquility and vibrant community life, while areas like Geebung and Virginia offer more affordable housing options with great connectivity to the CBD.

For those seeking a quieter, more suburban feel, Bridgeman Downs and Bald Hills present spacious properties and a serene environment.

The North-West

In the north-west, suburbs like Enoggera and Gaythorne are characterised by charming, post-WWII weatherboard homes, high-set chamferboards, and stunning Queenslanders. These suburbs are close to the city but with a village vibe – making them ideal for professionals and families.

Surrounded by lush bushland, The Gap and Bardon boast leafy streets, quality schools, and ample green space, attracting families and nature lovers.

Ferny Grove and Upper Kedron provide a peaceful, family-friendly environment with great schools and recreational facilities.

The North-East

In the North-Eastern suburbs, you’ll find a relaxed coastal lifestyle with easy access to the city.

Redcliffe – just 40 minutes from the CBD and 25 minutes from Brisbane Airport – has a mix of housing stock, from prestigious canal front properties to units boasting sea views.

Kippa-Ring, Clontarf, and Woody Point provide a mix of affordability and community spirit, perfect for first-time buyers and young families.

Brighton, Deagon, Sandgate, and Shorncliffe present a charming blend of historic appeal and seaside living.

Surrounded by the Boondall Wetlands and home to international colleges and esteemed schools, Banyo, Boondall, Northgate, Nudgee, and Nudgee Beach offer a diverse range of housing options, making them attractive to both professionals and investors.

Outer-Northern Suburbs

Formerly a pine forest, the corridor on either side of the Bruce Highway around North Lakes and Caboolture has seen huge development in the past couple of decades.

New estates and plenty of homes under construction makes the Moreton Bay region a great choice for those eligible for a First Home Owners Grant, yet are still well served by public amenities. There are also acreage properties still available.

Whether you’re looking for your next investment, your first home, or your forever home – there’s a northern suburb of Brisbane that fits your needs perfectly.

At LJBA we would love to help you find the right property for your next chapter!
